Google Maps is going to add two mobile parking payment services into its app, Passport and ParkMobile. Both offer the ability to find, pay for, and replenish parking meters or parking lot fees through a smartphone app. Now, these features will also be available in Google Maps.

This feature in the Google Maps will be available in more that 400 cities of US, including Boston, Cincinnati, New York,Washington DC, Houston, Los Angeles, and more, Google said. Android phone users will get this feature first and then iphone users.

Paying for public transportation will work much in the same way as you are searching for transit directions in Google Maps, you’ll see an option to purchase tickets appear alongside your results. Same procedure is for this feature, an user should have an account link with his/her debit or credit card to make transaction. Then the customer can show their digital ticket if purchased already or can use tap-to-buy option. Meanwhile this feature is not added for India but, Google said, this feature will be available to use in over 80 transit systems around the globe. Maybe some cities of India will be included.

Google isn’t the only company attempting to appeal to transit riders. Lyft and Uber have both recently starting integrating transits directions into their respective apps. Uber also offers option to buy train tickets using their apps in Denver. Both companies Uber and Lyft are building sophisticated algorithms that rely on reams of data from transit agencies pertaining to routes and schedules. It's just a race among tech giants to become a one-stop shop for transportation.
