WordPress or Blogspot? This is one of the most frequently asked question from newbie bloggers. So, today I am going to compare these two blogging platforms.



Blogger features

- It is a site which offers free domain hosting (.blogspot.com) and it is offered by the Google.

- You can make a site with your domain followed by '.blogspot.com'. Or you can buy your own one.

- Easy to maintain, you can focus only on your content and SEO.

- It can handle a lot of traffic. Your site server will not fail even at a high amount of traffic.


- Support adsense, you can monetize your blog once it is eligible.

- You can apply third party themes which comes in .XML file. 

- You can add HTML, CSS and JavaScript codes.

 some limited themes which not look any professional.

- Your blog is not owned by you as it is not self hosted, your blog can be unpublished or even may deleted if it violets any rules of the blogger.com.

- There is no any tool to improve your site SEO.

- Some big ad networks like media.net do not accept blogspot sites.


Wordpress features (with free plan)

- Like Blogger you can start your blog with a wordpress sub domain or you can buy your own self hosted domain.

- It comes with several extensions and features which you can add in your blogs.

- It supports adsense.

- Your site will be acceptable by any ad network (if it fullill their T&C).

- It comes with dozens of free professional looking themes.


With a plan, you can get more features which is even not provided by the blogspot.


WordPress Drawbacks (with free plan)

- You can't add your site to google search console.

- Your blog will be filled with ads which you can't remove until you buy a plan.

- Can't access any WordPress features like, Jetpack, Design customization, etc.

- You can't add a HTML, CSS or JavaScript codes in your blog.

- You can't use a third party theme in your blog.

- Can't get a premium theme.
